CINDY OTCENASEK, Teahupo'o Surf-ari Captain/Host

Born and raised in the natural paradise of Tahiti-Iti, Cindy and her brothers -- big-wave surfers, Manoa & Matahi Drollet, literally had in their front yard one of the world's most famous surf breaks, and so it's only fitting that she is the only female currently piloting a nimble 24' (8m) boat to the very edge of Teahupo'o's daunting, liquid precipice. "I love the adrenaline when a big wave comes," says Cindy.  "I love to take surfers and non-surfers alike to watch my brothers and their friends surf that giant tube."

But the world famous surf break and the nearby villages are only the start of Cindy's adventures.  She will take you on explorations of little-known wonders beyond the end-of-the-road in Tahiti Iti's wild peninsula.  "This part of the island is only accessible by boat or by foot and it hides many secrets like blue grottoes, waterfalls and natural pools."   Cindy's family has lived here for generations and she is uniquely qualified to guide you on adventures that few outsiders have ever experienced.

Cindy says she's privileged to be able to share her life and her culture with our guests.  "I love my community of Teahupo'o which still has a beautiful, sharing spirit.  People still go fishing all together and share the catch at the end of the day.  When I am here, I know where I am from."
